What is a growth mindset? What does it mean? Well, there is no exact definition because a growth mindset comes from a number of different factors. Every day we come across all sorts of new knowledge, ideas, and experiences all of which contribute to our overall view of what we want our lives to look like at the end of the day. The hard part is that our minds change every so often: day, month, year, etc. So how could our mindset be growing with our minds constantly changing? A growth mindset comes from not only changing the way you think but also from the actions you take and the people who support you.
The first thing you have to do is recognizing what it is that you want in life. You often get asked this question in various forms: What’s your vision? What’s your big goal in life? What are you working toward? What do you want in life? Once you are able to answer these questions, you have started building your mindset. But, you have to be able to answer these questions with certainty. Once you are able to give the same answer to these questions every time, then you have established your mindset.
The next step is to surround yourself with like-minded people. This is very important, why? Because it is those people who have the same goals and aspirations as you who are going to hold you accountable. By holding you accountable it holds them accountable. Accountable to what? Accountable to continue building and working toward your goals. When you spend your time with like-minded people, your mindset starts to transition into a lifestyle. When you are constantly reminded every day, or however often you are affiliated, your mind falls into autosuggestion. Autosuggestion is the agency of control through which an individual may voluntarily feed their subconscious mind on thoughts of a creative nature, or, by neglect, permit thoughts of a destructive nature to find their way into this rich garden of the mind. To summarize, autosuggestion is when you embed thoughts into your subconscious until it becomes who you are and how you think. This is why surrounding yourself with like-minded people is important, because it is those same people who are feeding you and your subconscious mind the thoughts of a creative nature to be successful.
Now, once you have built your mindset and it has started to grow you must, what we call in our business, protect your attitude. In life, it is natural to “fall off the tracks” every now and then. And that’s okay, the important thing is how quickly you are able to get back on. Being able to protect your attitude comes from having confidence, believing in yourself, and knowing that others believe in you too. Do whatever it is you have to do for you to get back on the tracks, and keep going. Remember, yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a new day!
It is the combination of these three steps that allow for your mindset to grow. And I learned how to read and recognize these strategies from this company. That is what I love the most about it. It is filled with nothing but folks who have goals and aspirations to be successful and take you along for the ride. Every single person develops and maintains their mindset from each other through support and mentorship. Every day we see new people in our business grow themselves. No matter how big or small they may be from day 1, they grow more and more. That is why I am writing this today because I came in with a big goal, and ever since working with Next Generation Marketing, Inc. that big goal has not only expanded but turned from a dream into a reality. It will happen because I can make it happen. And you can too. Just remember, as long as you are moving forward you are not failing, you cannot be failing, and working toward something at the same time, it is impossible!
